Justin or anyone else that knows. I compared 2 pictures one of the W3V and one of the W3J; I noticed that the bottom side of the laptops differ in terms of harddrive placement and vent placement. Will this affect how the ram sticks are installed on the W3J? Here are pictures below:

From the pictures you can see that the W3J has a vent and a few of the components have moved such as the HDD. If that is the case, did the ram modules move as well and how would we install them if they moved.

You sure they were moved? To me it looks like they just used different cladding (not sure if this is the right word) and different shaped panels Looks like they added an air intake underneath in the W3j as well.

The chassis on the W3V and W3j are the same. I would think that everything would be very similar. Because both notebooks use a different motherboard, the RAM slots might be in a slightly different location. And because the W3j is so powerful with the X1600 in it, it needs a vent in the bottom of the notebook. The Hard drive also appears to be in a slightly different location in the W3j than the W3v.

When I was checking the W3J out in London last month the guy at the shop opened up the bottom pannel for me to check the RAM (I wanted to verify the speed and whether it was 1X1gb or 2X512gb.

I have not seen inside a W3V but the RAM and HDD on the W3J are both easily acccessible once teh covers are off, I even took a photo of the internals when he took off the covers if you are interested i could see if i could dig it out.

NZwaverider ,please post the pictures. Also when you looked on the inside were both ram slots on the bottom or do u have to remove the keyboard to access the other ram slot.

I can tell you there is just one RAM slot underneath, you will have to remove the keyboard to upgrade more than 1.5gb,

I am just having some dinner, I took the image on my phone (K750i 2.0 mp) so I just need to find it, it wasnt where I thought I had it, so will have to take a look it could be one of my external hdds,

OK, this is my first attempt at uploading images, so here we go, I couldnt insert it? do you need to have web space to upload to then link the image?

Anyhow I think I have attached the file, maybe you could down load it and re insert it for others?

unfortunately it is a little blurry because I was in a hurry to take the photo before he put the cover back on, wish I had taken a couple of shots!

However you can clearly see where the RAM and HDD and cooling setup are...

    Enjoy :D
