When ordering a W3J laptop on following reseller's (MilestonePC.com, PROPortable and BTO Tech) web page, there's a section like "add 1 gb ram".
When you order the extra 1 gb ram, is this the exact same ram which is in the laptop? If not, will the Dual channel work?
Yeh, I know there's not a big difference between Dual channel vs. Single channel. However I hope to keep the advantage of Dual channel memory.

    Cheers.

I doubt it's the exact same. Dual channel will work regardless.

It doesn't need to be the exact same RAM, as long as the RAM timings match. I'm sure the guys at PROPortable, MilestonePC and BTO Tech know their stuff.

If you plan on overclocking then perfectly matched modules (ideally from the same batch) will improve stability.

TedJ is correct... the RAM sticks don't have to be exact. "Dual Channel" isn't as picky as most people think it is...

Ditto that.... However, just so you know, Corsair FINALLY came out with matching so-dimms for the purposes of dual channel..... personally, if you already have a stick - it's a waste - and knowing the little benefit dual channel actually provides in todays already smokin' systems.... the slightly added benefit of matching sticks still don't really show up much even in benchmarks..... but it is technically "better"...... but you certainly, by no means "need" it.

Ok if thats true then I want the ram that comes with the computer. To overclock it better correct?

    and who sells this?
