One thing that I have never liked about any Sony computer is that the desktop icons only need to be singled clicked in order for the program to run. (The normal mouse pointer turns into a hand with a finger pointed, when hovered over)
I think I read somewhere that most of Sonys laptops are made by ASUS. My question is: do Asus notebook's desktop icons function the same as Sonys computers? I am thinking about purchasing the upcoming Asus V1J if it gets Merom but dont want this annoyance.
I am use to double clicking and whenever I use a Sony to try it out in a store I accidently open the same program twice. Also, does anyone know what settings need to be changed in order to remove this annoyance of mine?![]()

The single click is actually a Windows options, I believe you can configure it through, either Mouse options, or Folder options.

Yeah. I'm not sure what it exactly it is, but this issue has to do with the user's configuration. I've dealt with many a computer that's been brought to me for repair that acts in this manner. In every case that it occurs and I end up reformatting, and doing a clean install(to fix the user's issue, not the mouse clicking) and when I am done, it works as it should(two clicks to open, etc.).
If the laptop comes setup so that you need only click once, you have two options. The first, dig around the computer settings and look for a fix. The other is to just do a clean install and everything will be back to "normal". -

You may just want to move all the ASUS or somewhat non-usefull icons into a folder on your desktop.
For example "Non Important Files" and throw everything that you will barely use into that folder. This was ur desktop is not cluttered with icons.
Or move the icons to your quick launch and there for the icon only needs to be clicked once, and delete the icon on ur desktop, so that you don't accidently click it. -
Milestone, you don't understand. The issue is actually incredibly annoying if you are not used to it, because it applies to the entire OS. Navigating through folders, clicking in applications, links in websites, EVERYTHING. It's a real pain in the ^^^. I highly doubt that the machine will come that way, but if it does, you can surely get rid of the issue by doing a clean install of windows.

Go to Control panel---> folder options ---> General tab ---> Click items as follows ----> select single-click (the annoying one) or double click (the one you want).
It's a pretty minor thing and all XP computers have the option.
