I recently got an Asus S300CA Vivobook and want to replace the existing 500Gb hard disk with an SSD. My Vivobook was delivered with Windows 8 and I updated it to 8.1. The problem is that my SSD is only 240Gb. I was using Macrium Reflect to do the cloning - but I noticed that there are 6 partitions on my current disk. The current partitions reported by Macrium Reflect are:

    1. 300Mb System(None) FAT32 (LBA) Primary
    2. 900Mb Recovery(None) NTFS Primary
    3. 128Mb (None) Unformatted Primary
    4. 444Gb OS (C) NTFS Primary
    5. 451MB (None) NTFS Primary
    6. 20Gb Restore (None) NTFS Primary (only 8Gb is used)

I'm trying to figure out which of these partitions I need to clone onto the SSD. My understanding is that the Restore partition is used to recreate the original factory installation. I plan to keep the 500Gb disk as a backup in case anything happens to the SSD. So, which of these partitions do I really need to keep? I'd at least like to get rid of the 20Gb partition, but I'd like to shrink or get rid of any others that aren't really needed. I'd appreciate any recommendations from others who have converted to SSD drives in their Asus notebook.

You need to keep all of them and ensure the SSD is aligned properly in the cloning process.
