Is it insulated? If it was you should be ok, if not, I am not sure that I would risk that.

I don't remember having my books cold when I arrive at school/home and I'm in Quebec City so I don't think it will be a problem, as long as it is not powered on and that you let it heat before powering it on, it shouldn't have any problems, even if it gets cold.

The problem will be with the screen mostly. If it gets too cold it can freeze and crack, so even if the books didn't feel cold, breaking your laptop is a helluva way to find out for sure.

Careful of using a woolen cloth/shirt, the static may be something to avoid!

As for traveling with it, I would recommend to not boot it up if it has been left outside for a long period of time, as the LCD can crack if turned on and its temperature is very low. Best thing to is to leave it at room temperature for a while after the journey.

You might just look for a well padded sleeve, since most of those act as an insulator as well.

Exactly what I was wondering.. sigh, also in Canada. Well, maybe you can just put it in a notebook sleeve and hold it inside your coat hahaha maybe I'll do that . . .

I'm from quebec too, and my tech said that the only danger for the lcd is if you open it when it's cold. Just let it get at the room temperature before powering it, cause if not it might blow some pixel. My mom once lost a full row of pixel that way lol. Tought letting it a night in a car the winter might be deadly, some walking wont do anything if you pay attention to let it get warmer before opeining it.
