Hi, I have been researching for a laptop for about 3 months and finally came to the conclusion that the W3V would be best for me. Before I order it I have a few questions for you guys.

    1. I will be using this in college. Will there be heat issues on the palm rest even on battery doing things like taking notes?

    2. Would it be audible during regular class use?

    3. I already have a desktop that I use for games so would the z63a be a better choice for my uses? Also is there a heat issue on the z63a?

    Thanks in Advance :)

Heat should not bother you at all while taking notes. The w3v is also very quite and it wont be audible in class. If you have a desktop for gaming then the z63a might be a better choice, however you dont get the cool aluminum lid.

Actually heat wise, the asus w3v gets hot when using graphic intensive games, but what would you expect from a 14" with a dedicated gpu.

Supposely the portable one mx which is the asus w3v just renamed, has better heating solutions for it.

For your uses im sure the z63a is better; only thing not attractive about that is the plastic lid. Comparing the dell m140 and z63a i think they can compete against each other.

Sound is quiet when i used to have my asus w3v playing games while having lecture and etc fan was not noticable while my someone else who was in front of me his sony notebook fan was audible. It kept on turning on and off.

Well if you're not going to be gaming on the unit, a Z63a may be the better choice to save you some money, stay a bit cooler, and get better life......... you're not going to hear it during class and it should be good for 3-4 hours of use. IF you're like I was and took some 3 hour classes at a time and are going to be away from your dorm all day, I suggest getting an optical bay battery..... that'll give you at least another 2 hours of life..... so with that installed with the main battery, you can get 5-7 hours easy. If you don't need the optical bay during most of that period, it's a great idea that won't add extra weight to your system.
