After updating my video drivers to the latest ones on Asus' website, my LCD still does not always respond once it times out. Most of the time it does, but every once in a while I can not get it to respond unless I press fn 7 or fn 8 together.

Just wanted to see if anyone else out there with a W3J had expereinced this.

    Thanks.

Do you use Vista? Or XP?

I think there were a few people with this problem before. I believe it had to do with the power4gear preferences, specifically the hdd time out option. So if you are using power4gear, check if its on (hdd timeout) and turn it off if it is. The only time I use power4gear is when I am on battery, otherwise it really doesn't do anything. Give that a try....but it could be a couple other things. What bios is on your w3j and also if you are running catalyst, what version are you running?

I am not using power 4 gear, and I dont believe I have HDD time out selected in windows but I will double check. I am running windows xp home edition, have bios 2.10 and the latest ATI drivers for xp from Asus' website.

This is already the second thread that you have created on this same issue... I can only answer what I answered the last time and in the PM that you sent me on this issue: it's either the video drivers, the ACPI drivers, or a combination of video and ACPI drivers.

If you have tried changing all those drivers, there is nothing else that you can do. It's time to get over this issue and start using your notebook again.

If your not able to figure it out then you could just set your video to not time out and then put your screen saver on. If you are away from your computer then just press fn f7 to turn it off for sure and then the same when you get back.
