Lately I have been using my notebook while connected to my external monitor. This may be a really stupid question but I noticed that my notebook monitor and my external monitor are both on. When connected to the external monitor, if my notebook is closed, is the notebook screen turned off or is there any separate button or setting that needs to be changed? Also with the graphics card that is included with the notebook, I believe it's the ATI x700, is there anyway it will run the native resolution of my 24 inch monitor? I believe the native resolution is 1900 x 1200.

Then something is wrong because I cannot get my external monitor to go any higher than 1400 x 1050. Any idea how I can resolve this problem?

well I can tell you that right this instant I'm powering my 23" widescreen w/ a V6va... and under the normal drivers I'm pumping out 1920 x 1200 to it....... are you doing a clone-view or a dual-view?

Well... I mean just in the settings tab of the display properties windows....... is your second monitor set up to "extend my windows desktop onto this monitor" or not?

If it is....... you'll have two desktops and they can be set to individual resolutions...... if you're doing a clone view..... the same identical thing is on both screens and therefore you're going to be limited to the res on the laptop screen......... with "dual-view" ... or in the window's setting "extend" ....... you could have a your 15.1" V6va w/ SXGA+ regular ratio.... and a 23" w/ WUXGA widescreen set up at the same time and be indepentant of each other.
