So, I treat my laptop as a desktop replacement with plug-in mouse/keyboard, so I want a monitor as well. I wanted to go big, I'm thinking 30", and had a few questions before the leap.

    1. My main question is: Will the video card in it (9800M GS) support a 30" monitor? I would connect via HDMI. I'm looking at the Dell 3008WFP and Gateway XHD3000...the reason is that for that size/price, it's gotta have HDMI, otherwise not worth it IMO. I do game (Guild Wars mainly) so I thought it might be an issue.

    2. For anyone with experience, is that size TOO big? Any regrets on getting the monster? Would a Dell 2709 be better? I game, play multi-table poker and do music editing (Reason, ProTools, etc) so extra screen real estate is always good...just wondering what people have experienced.

    Thanks in advance! :D

I don't do much gaming but I did by the laptop for my flight sim. I run Realflight G4.5 and even though the max. specs required doesn't seem too high, if you really want to get the most of it you need a really good system. The G50VT-A2 I have actually can only give me 20-30 fps in some airports.

The reason I mention all of this is because I fly on both my laptop screen and my 37" 1080p Sharp LCD TV via HDMI. I haven't seen any issues with the performance related to running it on the TV vs. the laptop screen. Although the resolution difference isn't too great, 1680x1050 vs. 1920x1080. I would assume the 30" monitor would have even higher resolution which might slow things down a bit. Regarding size, the 37" is great as long as I sit back a little bit. If I'm close enough to read text / menus then the screen seems a bit too big.

    Hope this helps
