I'm a proud new owner of a G1 after doing a lot of research (ended up going to Best Buy) and have a few questions...

-Is it normal for the right touchpad button to be stiffer than the left button? The right pad seems to have a different click than the left.

-What software/program do you use to enable the webcam? I tried installing a driver on the webcam after going into device manager but I got the blue screen of death when Vista tried to find the driver.

-One of my keys (the 0 key) is sticking...can you pop these keys off and clean underneath them like a standard desktop keyboard? I want to ask before I do.

-What is considered acceptable light leakage? I've never owned a laptop before so I don't know what is bad/good. When watching a movie in the dark (contrast all the way up), I get slight light leakage on the edges of the screen (1/8-1/4" in from the edge)....is that considered normal?

    Thanks a lot.

Is it like the 1st one? Or better/worse?

As for the touchpad, they should be the same. If you have canned air, try blowing under it to see if there is dirt/dust trapped. You can't pop the keys out safely unfortunately, they are 'X' tabs and quite delicate. You can either check if there is dirt underneath, or see if ASUS can send you a replacement, and send the old one back.

    Thanks.

I might have phrased my touchpad question wrong. When I press down on the right touchpad near the center it works fine. But if I press down on the far corner (farthest bottom right) it makes a different noise and needs more pressure.

The left button has the same click/feel on all sides of the touchpad. I don't want to be too anal but I did spend almost $2000...and I want to make sure mine isn't defective. It's just a little bit irritating because you have to press pretty hard on the corner for it to click and I figured both buttons would be the same.

Here is a picture of the spot I'm talking about...

Does anyone know of a way to get under the touchpad buttons to see if there is anything that may be jamming the button (or see where it's not hitting the contact?).

I usually wrest my thumb on the "eye" in the middle and click the inner part of either button and find they both need the same pressure.

Light leakeage, I'd say little better than the acer shown above.
