I have several questions I want to ask those that have the G1S because i don't know much about it and am afriad of breaking it.

    1. The box the G1s came it says you have to put the laptop on a completely flat surface. Is that really true? I have only been using it on a flat surface so far but i would like to know if it can be put on the lap or carried around when its on.

    2. I have been told the Zalman Notebook cooler is great for the Asus g1s but only if the tape is taken off on the bottom of the laptop. I didn't even know there was tape on the bottom of the laptop. Do I have to unscrew it before I can see the tape?

    3. If i get the Zalman Cooler can i put my g1s on the cooler and have it on my lap?

    1. Yes, you can use it on your lap but avoid system intensive programs like games. The laptop will heat up very quick. This can be very bad for the computer if the airflow is blocked by anything.

    2. Yup. Remove the panels covering the GPU/CPU and the RAM. There is a guide for it somewhere.

    3. You would probably be fine. You might try looking for a simple laptop pad that has a rigid flat surface with padding on the bottom. This will give the legs something to stand on and leave a gap for air to enter.

Does doing this void the warranty on the laptop?

nope, it doesnt, there is only warranty void if cpu is changed but opening panels is no problem, and if you want you can change RAM and HDD too...

EVEREST is a good overall temp monitor. If you only want to monitor your GPU, RivaTuner is also an excellent choice.

I'm using the 2 1gb ram that came with the G1s atm but i would like to upgrade to 4gb ram. I know that vista 32bit only reads 3gb. Which ram is stable with the Asus G1s-A1

get a normal brand like kingston, corsair, OCZ,...
and buy two 2GB DDR2 SODIMM sticks (667Mhz or 800Mhz)
    get the cheapest...

btw 800Mhz is more futureproof but it will auto downclock to 667Mhz so it wont be any faster

yep. They arent hard to take out, but you wanna make sure you read the instruction good, and handle the sticks with care, because it all felt a little fragile to me :)

nope, you will most likely find some quick instructions provided with the new RAM you bought.

I think some of them are these:
    -switch ram when its off
-make sure you ground yourself by touching somthing that is metal
-I think to get the ram stick out, they have to be in a degree of like 30 to get out easily
    -...
