Hi all,
My husband is in the market for a new notebook (and I can't sell him on an Alienware ) ... we're looking at the G2S-B1 ... here are the specs on one available from Newegg:
ASUS G Series G2S-B1 NoteBook Intel Core 2 Duo T7700(2.40GHz) 17.1" Wide UXGA 2GB 200GB 7200rpm DVD Super Multi NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT
This is available for $2199, which looks like a pretty good deal to me. The only thing that set me back was the weight is listed as 9.6lbs - does anyone know if this includes the power adapter? If so, that would make it comparable to the XPS Gen 2 he is using now (my old hand-me-down gaming computer).
He's not into gaming, so the video card is more than enough - he does do CAD and some other apps, so this should work well for his needs, and his is a Vista fan.
Appreciate any thoughts you folks have.

$2199? That's horribly overpriced. I know he's not into gaming, but you can get a machine with a much better graphics card and a slightly weaker CPU for $999 at Worst Buy, for a reference.
Hmm. Try filling out the "What notebook should I buy" form here and see what comes up.
But I do not recommend the G2 for that price -
thanks. i see

OP: The current generation of the G2 is the G72, you can try checking that out.
