so I'm excitedly taking the plunge and buyin an asus G1S from gentech!

    Since I'm upgrading to the 120GB 7200 drive, the OS isn't pre-installed.
If I ask them to install it, it could delay the shipment a couple of days.

Is it a big deal to do the install myself? Apparently they don't give you the install dvd, just a "recovery" dvd. Do they work the same way? Is a recovery install different from the standard install? easier?

I'm a little out of the loop but have decent tech skills - but feelin lazy and a little scared of makin a mess of vista.

p.s. sorry if this is a really lame question... brain fried at the moment.

If you are pressed for time, skip the OS install..

Installing Vista from the Asus recovery DVD is a walk in the park.

To give an eg, Even my roomie with no technical skills and no OS installation experience did a recovery on his own..

It's very easy, just pop in the disc and let it do everything itself. Put in CD1, let it install, put in CD2, let it install, put in drivers disc, let that install, and voila, everythings factory restored with the drivers, programs, etc.
