A buddy of mine has an Asus M2N with a busted CD drive. He's wondering if an external CD drive is his only option, or can he put in a new optical drive (DVD combo drive will be his choice)???

    Thanks,

    C.

Thanks Coriolis, I swear I did try goggle it... but couldn't find it.

Worth it??.. I don't know, the M2N in question is in great shape (Intel Pentium 1.50GHz/512 MB of RAM/40 Gig HD/14.1" LCD). It is quite useless right now for someone that watches movies, and listen to cd-music.. on the go. For $130 you can extend her lifespan. Heck!!... I have a Thinkpad A22M (P3. 900Mhz, 512 MB ram) that is still going strong.

    Thanks again Coriolis.

No prob, glad to be of help :)

True, but $130 USD is alot, you can probrably get a really good OD with an enclosure...

However, the M2n is a solid machine, IIRC, Danny from MPC has been using one since it has been released years back, and everytime I visit, he's always on that notebook, and it's not only in great shape, it's zippy and overall will last for another decade!

Guess you are right. He can always rip the CD's and encode RMVB versions of his movies.. ;)

OK, that I don't get. If I was Danny, I would be always using the latest of Asus... :p

I am sure Danny's wife gets the good stuff..... ;)
