1: Why is the orange battery led on my V6V on all the time when it's plugged in to AC? It's been on for about 30 hours now, no matter if the machine is on or off.
2: Isn't it supposed to be on, only when the battery is being charged???

Yeah, that is weird. Try popping out the battery and reinsert it. It may need to be repositioned. Also are you keeping a charge when you disconnect the power cord?

Yeah, I noticed that too, not 30 hours though ! It comes on when the V6 is off from time to time (usually a few hours). It’s weird because I use the notebook on AC most of the time, that would mean the battery discharges itself even though it’s not in use. That’s probably normal I guess….

there's a thread in the Asus section of Notebook Forums where several people have had battery charging issues with the Z71v. Perhaps you have a similar issue. If it persists and you find it doesn't charge to 100%, you may have a bad battery.

As dlogic, I use the V6V, on AC most of the time. It's not a major problem for me, and the battery charges to 100%. At the moment i'm actually charging it because i used it without AC, i'll see if the led goes of, when the battery reaches 100%.

However i am a bit concerned after reading the thread at notebookforums. I've only used my laptop with only the battery two times, so i'm worried that after more use the problems will start coming. But i'll let you know how I get on.

Well I just turned on my laptop again, and now the orange led is off. But every now and then it comes on for a minute or so (sometimes even less), as if to top it up. The battery charges to 100%, so it seems to be okay for the moment.

Well that's normal. Sometimes it loses a bit of charge over time and it has to charge up for a minute or two.

agreed, that's fine. the battery problems that people were posting about on Notebook forums also tended to happen after a month or two
