    Hey guys

Ok, just answer this question straight out:

"If i change my C:/ to NTFS from FAT32, is there a chance (any at all, and HOW big of a chance) that i will lose any of the data on my C:/ drive?"

and wat will happened if changing to NTFS is actually slower?

    Cheers

you shouldn't lose any data at all. best thing to do is back that data up before converting. I don't think you can change from NTFS back to Fat32.

Ditto that on data backup, although the conversion is an automatic process that simply changes the drive format and should keep all data intact.

You cannot go back to FAT32 unless you reformat and reinstall Windows on the drive, but in this age why would you want to for most applications? NTFS is a much better format, and allows larger individual file sizes. Speed difference will probably not be noticeable.

well when you do the convert it will ask if you want to dismount the c drive. say no. then it will ask if you want to convert on reboot select yes.

and there's some files that i can't backup........which i've posted somewhere else on this forum...............*finding*.........*found*

These are the files that i can't backup (i.e. can't create a copy or move):

    C:\Documents and Settings\[Username]\Local Settings

    C:\Documents and Settings\[Username]\Local Settings\NTUSER

    C:\Documents and Settings\[Username]\ntuser.dat

    C:\WINDOWS (folder)

It is slower in some circumstances, however, in Fat32, you can't have files larger then 4gb. There are a few more things, but I can't recall any right now :p
