Hey guys! I'm looking into upgrading my HDD situation and I bought the G51 just for this kinda thing. I like the 320GB HDD and I haven't had any issues with it at all, but I want to protect myself just in case.
Originally, I wanted to just buy a 2nd 500GB HDD and back up my files using the Win7 backup utility, but I've heard that my model laptop (G51VX-X3A, same as the X1A just a better processor, egg exclusive) is capable of RAID. If it is I'll get 2 500GB HDD's.
I've never done a RAID nor do I really know if my laptop is capable of it. Anyone here tried it? Any help is appreciated!

Bumping it once.....

The raid function is at the software level within Windows, not a BIOS, or hardware, RAID.

the X3A has BIOS level raid just like the X1A. Go into bios, find the option that should currently be set at the "AHCI" value, change it to RAID. Upon rebooting, at post, Press Ctrl+F1, make sure you've backed everything up before doing this as creating a striped raid volume WILL destroy all data on the drive.
RAID for G51VX-X3A???
