Hello everyone,
i was wondering if anybody could explain my problem/question?
I am using dual boot Win7 (32-bit and 64-bit). I know that Windows rating or assessment doesn't prove very much, but regardless i would like to know the following:
When i run the assessment in 32-bit mode, my RAM score is 7.2, but when running the assessment in 64-bit mode, my RAM score is 5.9.
Just out of curiosity - what is the deal here?
Thank you for potential answers,
K

I'm taking a wild guess here, but this may be due to the fact that the max amount of ram you can utilize on a 32bit OS is ~3.2GB. When Windows detects your 4GB of ram, it sees that it is maxed out beyond the limit, hence the high WEI score. For 64bit OSes (and assuming you're using Home Premium), the max ram is 16GB, hence a lower score is given.

This makes sense to me, thank you. I understand that 64-bit system can utilize more memory than 32-bit, but i thought the assessment is more of a "ram speed" rather than "ram amount" assessment. Guess i was wrong.
But here comes another problem - the 64-bit system detects 4 GB of memory, but it says only 3.86 GB is usable. Again, that doesn't make sense to me...
Thank you for the quick reply,

Could be Windows WEI measure 64bit differently, try test it with PassMark Performance Test on both 32 and 64 bit, it should tell you the actual performance that the 64bit runs much better than 32bit:
PassMark PerformanceTest - PC benchmark software -
I tried it, indeed got a better score.
Thank you for the help and answers.
