How easy is it to RMA a defective ASUS notebook?
What is the average return time?
Do you need to go through tech support first, or can you just tell them what is broken and they won't give you any fuss?
Does ASUS provide packaging to send the notebook back or do you have to keep your old packaging materials?

Haven't RMA'd an ASUS before, but usually after being on hold for 45 minutes, you get some dumb kid who will ask you "turn on your machine". And you end up yelling at them "it doesnt work1@#!@"... And then they tell you to do another 50 things to make sure it's not just a software failure, and then they give you an RMA #, usually free shipping, sometimes not.
RMA time would be about 2 weeks including ground shippin. If they're within United States, overseas would take much longer. If you're sending it to your retailer, it will probabily be fixed in 2-3 weeks. -
it is largely dependent on the reseller. if you are looking to buy, i would check with the resellers to see their return policies before buying.

You are normaly on hold for about 10 minutes. you tell them the prob and you would like to send it in. they are fairly fast well well prob about 1 week without your laptop.

It depends... if it's a Built On notebook.. then you go through your reseller, so that depends on how fast they take care of it. When I had the "ghosting" issue with my Z70va.. my reseller, ISTNC, setup a pre-paid pickup for the notebook, and I had it back to me in a week. Great service that was. But if it's an Ensemble unit, then you have to send back to ASUS. Most people that have had to RMA have had good experiences with ASUS customer service. I'm sure that if there's something wrong with your notebook, and it's still under warranty, they won't hassle you or ask you a million questions on reasons why you're returning. As for the packaging, I had to send mine back in the original box.
