Hi all,
Just want to share my experience and possibly be reassurred by others who had to return their laptop to Fremont in California rightout of thebox.
I bougth a N51Vn-X1A from newegg.ca, shipping was very trouble some but lets skip that part.
I like a lot every aspect of this laptop, except maybe the touch controls for sound and all that are somewhat clumsy and plain useless. So as night comes I install my Windows 7 x64 on it and start inspecting the notebook in details...
I am then horrified to found a Dark Dot factory defect on the LCD ! Stopped my inspection of the notebook immediately..
I first thought "should I get the full refund" on the notebook (in canada they have to take it back within 30days of purchase, no questions asked that is the law here).
But I gave Asus a call because I consider them the reason of this quality problem, and they proposed to pick it up at my home the next day (fedex express), 2-3 days factory service for LCD panel replacement in Fremont. He told me to mark it DOA and "Zero Bright Dot" and that I will get the panel replacement. So I went with that option for now.
How can this happen in the first place, this is a factory defect ? Don't they do QA on their equipment before shipping it out ? More importantly, who does accept a defective panel right out of the box ???
Reading more on the "ZBD policy" I am now anxious that they will refuse the service call because it's most probably a Dark Dot. If they do though, I will have to insist legally for the full refund from Newegg.ca and forget Asus for good.
I think the key is to react very quickly after the purchase, because you are within the time period where you can threaten them to refund the purchase fully if they do not give service.
How's Asus on these warranty calls ? Should I stop the process right away and order a full refund instead ?
RMA N51Vn to Asus on Zero Bright Dot 30-days...
