I sent my N61JV laptop to Asus(Fremont location) on the 3rd of Sept. They just received it today, so about a 5 day shipment due to labor day weekend off hours.

I am curious whether my N61JV laptop will be fixed and shipped back to me by Monday. I am leaving on Tuesday for College south in San Diego, so i hope it will arrive at my house in San Francisco before i leave for southern California.

(My N61JV suddenly froze while i was browsing the web, then it powered off by itself. Later, i could smell burnt plastic and metals. My laptop keyboard area on the left side was extremely hot also. My laptop didn't work after that, although i could still hear my laptop's fan running when i press the power button.)

And if i do receive the laptop back, will it be in factory new condition (with boxing/tags/stickers/manuals etc..)? I might probably resell the repaired N61JV once i receive it back from Asus.

You probably won't get it back very soon. A repair of that magnetude might constitute for a new machine, but I'm not sure.
I've been without my laptop for over 8 days now (because of labor day and the weekend) and they've had it for two and a half buisness days, but it's repair status hasn't changed since it arrived (Repairing).

I hope asus can repair it before Monday.

Also, do i receive the exact same unit if asus technicians determine a replacement will be the best option?

I think it is hard to get it back before Monday.

Only rarely will ASUS give you a new machine. Usually they will repair yours, but most probably you will get a new mainboard.

    Customs can take some time.
When I ordered mine from Gentech PC in USA to be delivered to Germany. The N71JQ was in Germany in 5 days and then it stayed another 5 days at the central custom's office at the airport for another 5 days before it was sent to the local customs in my area.
