hi guys, i have the ASUS V1S and I found that my idle temperature was around 58 degrees which is on the high side...so i was planning to use RMClock to undervolt. I'm just wondering...does RMClock just lower the load temperature or does it lower the idle temperature as well?
Another issue's that when I read the CPU info in RMClock, it shows that my current FID and VID is 8.0x and 0.850V respectively. However, under Profiles, the lowest VID I can go to is 0.937V...loll, does that mean at low FIDs, Intel's doing a better job than RMClock??

it will lower the idle temps if your lowest multiplier was set at a value higher than the minimum voltage allowed. i.e. if your lowest voltage is .850v, it will only lower your idle temps if your lowest multiplier was something greater than .850v.

thanks ejl for the reply, but i still dont quite get your point...sry, im a noob...
i just dont seem to get RMClock working...i tried lowering the voltages and eventually got from 1.337V to 1.050V for the highest multiplier which worked...so i lowered the voltages for other multipliers...however, when i looked at my idle cpu temps, it is even higher than b4!! it's 63-64 now compared to 58 b4 tweaking with RMClock...am i doing something wrong here?
are there anyone who has the V1S? care to share your voltages and corresponding multipliers if you are using rmclock?

If you're a "noob" as you say I suggest stay away from undervolting or read a good guide about it before proceeding (seems you didn't?). The fact that other people run certain voltages stably doesn't mean you can, each CPU is different.
To answer your question, no, undervolting a Core (2) Duo won't decrease idle temperatures since the lowest multiplier's voltage is locked in the hardware. -
hey E.B.E, i did read all sorts of guides on the net as well as over here...i followed the guide by written by blackbird...however, after tweaking, my idle temp actually increased...i spent the whole day trying to undervolt, stressing the cpu at EVERY lowered voltage...ohh well, maybe it's just not for me...
about the question of not being able to lower the idle temp, would u have any idea why mine's around 57 degrees (on the high side) while some others are at 50? my notebook's new so it shouldnt be a dust problem and im in a 25 degrees room environment

I don't know, maybe the thermal paste they used is not so good, or perhaps the CPU is one that heats up more... not all of them are the same.
If you did stress testing you are basically OK. But it won't improve your temps on idle... it shouldn't INCREASE them either, that's really weird.
