Ok, you've probably seen my temperature problems thread, and I'm just waitng on the copper blocks to get started. ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus/486648-temperature-problems-g51vx.html#post6287443)
But now all of sudden my laptop is radiating immense amounts of heat to my face. I can't tell where its coming from and its never happened before. It also seems to have a slight "heater-smell" (I don't know how to describe it).
My temps in HWMonitor at the moment:
THRM: 57C
CPU Cores: 60C
GPU: 66C
HD: 49C
Any idea on whats going on? Unfortunately, my laptop is refurb and thus the warranty has already expired (bought August 09), so this is really worrying.
Thanks in advance.

few reasons why refurbs are bad
1. the refurb facility is horrible. if they had to replace mainboard or any major components you can assume that they did not replace thermal pads and reused old dry thermal paste
2. things like wireless switch, backlit keyboards, bluetooth cables may never get plugged in
Dont get refurbs unless you know that no major repairs were done. youre temps seem totally normal. -
But how does that explain massive heat radiation with fairly normal temps?
Also, I shutdown for about 10-15minutes and it stopped the "radiation". -

massive is a term only people who have accurate means of comparing can use (like me). No offense but if the temps are normal then your exhaust is working exactly as it should. Generally a broken cooling system will not exhaust heat and will be very loud (fan throttles up because heat is not expelled). Your laptop can not be radiating heat towards your face unless you are sleeping on your keyboard. If i had your laptop in hands i would be able to give you a concrete answer but here i only have to go on what you said. you are saying your temps are normal. the burning smell can be anything. Melting plastic parts, ac jack burning, resistors melting. your laptop should not smell like it is burning (unless you are putting your nose to the exhaust)

Ok, turns out that it was actually the room I was in. There is a sort of "heat-spot" right in front of my laptop. LOL
I moved it to a cooler room and whaddya know, no heat radiation.I've just never had that sort of a situation happen before.
Wow, I feel quite stupid. Thanks for your replies. As for the smell, I'm thinking that smell was a byproduct of my paranoia.
Sorry and thanks again!
Radiating heat and slight burning smell?
