Is it going to work if i get 4 g of ram in my g1s with windows vista premium?
and is there a big difference between T7500 and T7700?
I will probably buy the one from www.milestonePC.com ...do you guys know an other g1s reseller based in canada?

ClearSkies Well no, I'm still here..
You won't notice the difference between the 7500 and 7700 in daily, practical use -- just in benchmarks and it's not worth the premium price. As for the RAM, there's a good bit of discussion around here and elsewhere on whether 4GB is either necessary or works in the 32bit Vista environment (I'm in the camp that believes 32bit Vista will only see 3GB to work with, due to IO mapping limitations).
My suggestion - stick with 3gb RAM and get the 7500 cpu. Milestone is a good and reputable reseller. -
if you do happen to get 4 gb of ram, I have read that you can use 3.3-3.5 of it for use in windows. So for me I would get the 4 gigs just for the extra 300-500mb of ram. But I don't know if this is true or not.

Well the problem with milestone is that they put a sucky HD in it and they don t sell 3g of ram... only 2 or 4
I would be very interested if anyone know other resellers based in canada or other which have a warranty with asus so i don t need to send my comp outside canada if there is a problem.
sorry for my bad english -

32bit os can see 3.5gb MAX but thats rare usually its closer to 3.2. It depends on your bios.
There are ways to force a 32bit os to use 4gb of ram, but the benifits are not worth the trouble and I dont think a notebook bois will have the option. -

Vista and XP, and ME ect they are all the same its based on if its 32bit or 64bit.
I run Vista 64bit so I can use 4gb of ram in my desktop, my notebook will probably run vista 64bit too, but the the motherboard bios only supports 3gb...
So you need both, bios support, and OS support to actully use 4gb. -
You are probably better off buying someone's 1G piece of ram (whoever is upgrading from a 1GB chip to a 2GB chip) if you're not going 64-bit
-
I would say unless you plan to install a 64bit OS don't bother.
However under a 64bit OS 4GB RAM runs like a dream.
