I've been messing around with my G50VT-X1 and setfsb. I've been successful enough in overclocking the processor (P8400) from 2.26 to 2.95+ Ghz, but something causes system crashes when I get the fsb too high (around 1333mhz). I know all sorts of things can go wrong up there, but one culprit might be the RAM, DDR2 PC2-6400 (800mhz), which I have running closer to 1100mhz.
I've looked around on Newegg and Crucial and can't find any DDR2 for laptops faster than what I already have--800mhz. (Though there is faster DDR3 stuff.)
Is there such a thing as faster DDR2 laptop memory (200 pin)?

I've only seen DDR2 with speeds higher than 800MHz in 240-pin Desktop memory, not for laptop. The next step is DDR3-1066 and even DDR3-1333, but only if your system originally supported DDR3.

It's most likely the ram that's the limiting factor causing your system to crash. 800mhz is the max speed for DDR2, but if you can find a lower latency ram module, that could potential help with your overclocking.

The latencies on my RAM are 6-6-6-21 or something like that, so there is lower latency stuff out there. Perhaps I'll look into that.
Thanks, repped. -
