I am having problems where my second HDD (data drive) on my G50 keeps disconnecting at random times. I am using Win 7 Ultimate Full Retail (party host) and the HDD is a Western Digital WD3200BEKT. Please advise what you think the problem could and if it's fixable by myself or if it has to be sent for RMA.

Is your second HDD secured by a HDD caddy/bracket?

I imagine when it disconnects you get it back on restart. If so then more than likely the drive is going to sleep and not waking up. Your best bet then is in the power manager to stop the drive(s) from going to sleep........

Yes it's secured with a bracket (I'm one of the lucky ones that actually saw one on the ASUS website and picked it up) :)

Yes I do get it back on restart. Would that be the Power Management settings or Device Manager?

I think I found it in the ASUS power management profile. Hopefully I got the right setting, will test and see...thanks again, + rep
