The NIC in the G51J is a little weak. I have a 5ghz N router and want to take advantage of it.
Anyone have a idea if the Intel® Ultimate N WiFi Link 5300 will fit? I don't get mine G51J till tomorrow. Intel website has 2 different size of the same card.
    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

The 5300 should fit. you will want the half size card, not the full-size.

the 5100 itself is a weak card and can have troubles connecting to wireless N. the 5300 has an extra antenna for increased stability and distance and has no issues with with wireless n. you do not have to have experience with G51 to have experience with an Intel WiFi 5100, it is in numerous laptops.

The 5100 in my G51 works well and is not any worse than any of the other N clients in my WiFi set up. As for the 5300, I don't recall whether the G51 has the extra antenna wire available. If not, you will have to make do with just 2 wires.

The G51J doesn't have the Intel 5100 wifi card, it has the WiFi link 1000 BGN, a low consumption b/g/draft-N card.

I have had 0 problems with this adapter and so far it has connected fast, and reacts pretty well. I have had no issues with connectivity, speed etc. It is up to you if you want to change the card, but I advise you to try it out first.
