First I must say I am very pleased with the quick repair time of my laptop, and it is working fine now after replacing the motherboard. But I am not as pleased with the condition my laptop is returned in. Firstly, the cover of the laptop is very dirty and filled with fingerprints, secondly my cpu cover doesn't fit now due to the heatpipe raised up, it wasn't like this before. My Hard Drive cover is missing a screw, one of the screw for the RAM cover is screwed in at an angle. One of the thermal pads for the GPU memory units is out of place and is right beside the heatsink, my cd drive rattles when I type and lastly, one of the screw holders for securing the keyboard is broken.

Hmm who did you buy it from?

I have only personally worked with Gentech and man everything I ever had to send to them was back like lightning and in perfect condition.

I would file a formal complaint tho, see what they can do for you as the unit in its current state sounds damaged.

take some high res pictures of everything too.

    I've also noticed my graphic card has changed from 8600gt ddr3 to a 9500gs ddr2. =.=
Btw, where can I file a complaint? I've sent an e-mail to rma(at)asus(dot)com already, is that the right place?

Well again who did you buy it from? I would try going thru them first.

Ive bought my laptop from a store. But I didn't send my computer back through them, I took the laptop personally to the repair centre.

I would guess that they changed the graphics card due to the issues Nvidia reported with 8600M GT cards. Asus has said that some of the defective GPUs are in their notebooks, so I can imagine that they replaced a defective 8600M GT with a newer (and non-defective) 9500M GS, which performs almost identically but won't have any heat issues like the 8600M GT could. I wouldn't file a complaint due to that.

    8600m GT DDR2 < 9500m GS < 8600m GT DDR3.

You got ripped off. Complain I say.

Then again, the 9xxx series aren't defective and the difference isn't massive. 10% or thereabouts difference. up to u

I'm not too worried about the graphic card, since the new card runs cooler. But I have to complain about the cpu cover not fitting anymore, since the gpu heatpipe is too high.
