I believe you have to extract whatever is inside that .zip folder. It should be a .INF file.

Yeah. I extracted the folder. But I can't install it. It says I have to install it from the device manager. So I went to the device manager, but then what? I think im supposed to click Update driver, but i can't find the driver that i need to update. What do i do? please help

Realtek Lan Driver (use update driver from Device Manger to install):
    ftp://61.56.86.122/cn/nic/Driver_5694_XP_0619.zip

The best/safest way to install/update any driver is to do it in safe mode.
After that, unzip the driver file -> go to your device manager -> right click on the device you want to update -> uninstall -> restart computer -> go back into safe mode -> run the new driver installation program or install it through your device manager -> restart computer in normal mode.

If you did a fresh install of XP, you would open your device manager. In the device manager window you should have a yellow question mark on one of the devices(It might say "unknown device") You need to click this unknown device and click "update driver." You can then specify which folder to search for the updated Realtek driver in.

Under unknown devices you should see:
    - Ethernet Controller (Realtek LAN)
    -Network Controller (WiFi)

I tried to update from both "Ehthernet Controller" and "Unknown device". However when I click update. I will next click Install from a specific location. It doesn't let me click the driver folder. However it does allow me to click the winxp folder. so I clicked that, however after that, it says connect to internet for an update. yes or no. I have chosen both, and right after that it says "cannot find the correct software"

    EDIT.
Okay i restarted my computer, and for some reason my device manager automatically came up. So I repeated the process. however this time it did install but at the end it said cannot complete. And it said it was corrupted. I downloaded other version and it still does teh same thing. Any help. I really need internet tonight. Im at the library.

So on this version i just click the setup.exe? or do i have to go to the device manager agian?

    EDIT

Okay I installed that one. Its the same thing i think. I just clicked setep.exe
When it finished it says "Please shutdown and plug Realtek PCI card to complete the installation". I have no idea what that is. So i restart and it still doesn't work

Hey I did that but after installation it says "Please shutdown and plug Realtek PCI card to complete the installation". I think this is the same one as before because I also tried this on the other one. Idk what Realtek PCI Card is, so when I restart. The program installed however it doesn't work. I look on the device manager and it should up, but there is a yellow symbol on the name. Also I can't get my video card to work as well.It says that it finished and it installed. Then when I restart, its not there. Like I never installed it. But im more worried about the internet. I have so much homework tonight. So whatever you can do to help me would be great. I have a Asus g50vt-x1

could be the first installation screwed up, go to safe mode like David mentioned, uninstall all previous drivers and remove all Ethernet controllers from drvice manager, restart and then reinstall the driver from device manager.

The LAN will be listed as ethernet controller in device manager, so just right click and manually browse the driver folder, don't try to install the "unknown device" because that's IR port and there is no driver for it.

it'll be visible in safe mode, go to safe mode and unisntall all previous drivers and then remove the ethernet controller from device manager, all done in safe mode.

Okay I removed the Realtek Lan Driver then restarted. Then I opened Device Manager and Ethernet was there. There was a yellow thing on its name like it wasn't installed correctly. Should I unistall the Ethernet Controller as well? Then restart? Then install Realtek?

You don't need to remove it because it suppose to have the yellow thing next to it, just right click and then click update driver and choose install manually, browse the driver folder (not the setup.exe one) to install.

Okay I reinstalled it. I can't just click the folder I extracted it to. When you go to Specific folder. I have to click the winxp folder because it doens't allow me to click the first one. So i just did "install from floppy/cd. So it installed and it still says error at the end. Here is a picture of the problem.
