I purchased an Asus 1201N this past January, and I'm really frustrated because I've been in the RMA run about since basically the beginning of August. I first sent it in because the power socket wasn't reliably connecting with the plug, so it wasn't charging well. Upon return, it was totally bricked. This was really frustrating, and it took a long time before they were willing to pay for return shipping. Even more frustrating, since it took such a long time to set up, and because I travel so much, it took a long time before I could actually send it back in. And when I got it back 10 days ago, it said it wasn't running a genuine copy of Windows 7. Since I'm visiting family right now, and just have my netbook, I don't have access to my full bag of tricks. Anyway, I reinstalled from the partition they included on the netbook. It still not genuine. I tried using a product key that I got using my education connection to upgrade the OS so it works, to no avail. I've spent a total of 8 hours on the phone with them, and they finally got me in contact with a supervisor who was able to get me free return shipping.
Anyway, I'm really frustrated. I am sick of the netbook that I planned on using on the go just spent the past 4 months being unreliable. I've taken great care of it, and there isn't a single blemish on the outside. Should I just assume that I get what I paid for? Or should I just stick with the RMA process? Or should I try to get something more (A new unit, a refund, etc)?

If you are under warranty you could cite Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act to get a replacement if previous repairs have failed. Other wise they wont replace or refund anything without a fight.

I had to jump through so many hurdles with my asus laptop that I just quit I was sick of it, I spent 1700 on an asus laptop and I had sent it in for repairs continuously and the "repairs" never lasted more than a few days. I got it back the day before my warranty ended and started it up and it worked fine and then I tried it the next day and it was dead. Asus refused to replace it or repair it because it was out of warranty even though they never repaired it in the first place. ASUS RMA is a huge joke.
Thank you for posting this, do you think I could have a case retroactively with regards to this act in regards to my situation? -
I'd just send it in again. Some of their technicians really are monkeys.
