Got the Asus 900 yesterday and had the envelope with the rebate ready to post this morning. So I left it over my desk at work. Now it has dissapeared, afraid someone stole it for a prank or thought it was money or something.
Now, the envelope had the original serial of the box!
What can I do? YOu think I still can get the rebate if I explain the situation to the Asus people?? It is 100 dollars!

No offense, but Asus is just going to think its another scam to get money out of them. That's why the rebate requires the serial number to start with.
I suggest you start asking people in your office about it, and clean out your memory coffers and check to see if you didn't just misplace it (I do that a lot). -
Hmm. Without meeting 100% of the rebate requirements your note going to get your rebate. Your best bet is to say that it has info that could protect someones life and then maybe someone will fess up or secretly give it back
Or maybe it was blown off the back of your desk/Or asus has a vanishing device installed in their rebates so people get cash them

Oh writing here was the last idea I came up with. I have asked people if they took by mistake my envelope. They said they didn't. And I believe them, I am suspecting the people who clean may have thought it contained money or something they could cash and took it. I don't envision anyone returning it anyway.
I still have the original serial on the computer and in the warranty. I can still mail those. I just don't want whoever stole it to get my rebate. -
Well I checked three times my desk and everything around before posting. I called home to see if I had left it in the box of the computer and it isn't there. Sigh.
I called the rebate service and they are not answering the phone although it is working hours for them. -
sorry for your loss, but if you work in a place where things disappear from your desk maybe you should consider another job?
