I have a new Asus. When I turn it on, this caption shows up after I see the Asus logo:
“Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key”.

I put on Win7 DVD, press a key, nothing changes. I restart, get into BIOS, change the first device to the DVD, still, no improvement.

    What's wrong?

I think you need to make it boot from the HD.

Another poster had a similar problem with a new Asus laptop (N73).

    HD? You mean HDD?

It was a default setting and didn't work.

    Sure HDD, HD, whatever. :)

This poster reported having to "switch the boot order in the BIOS" on first boot. I assumed that meant he had to set it to HDD, but perhaps it was more involved than that. You might try PMing him.

I'm guessing you have by now, but I'm curious as to what it was. :)

I remember an exact same problem on machines, which had fdd drives and were set to boot from fdd in bios. whenever there was a disk in the fdd drive upon boot, you would get the exact same error message.

My guess would be to have a look at boot devices in bios to make sure OS drive comes first. Also, remove all disks from the drive and any usb drives.
