I'm looking for a laptop cooler for my A6JC, as it's getting somewhat hot.

ATM I'm using a table fan to help cool the laptop, but it's not really practical to use it. Noisy, creates a lot of unwanted airflow (read: I do not want it to blow that much in my face).
It cools the laptop quite well when idle, CPU down about 25C, HD down 15C, when the room temperature is about 28C. Load temperatures are about 5-10C lower with the fan.

These are the ones I know about:

    Akasa Aluminium Notebook Cooler
    Cooler Master NotePal
    Titan G3TZ Alu

I live in Sweden if thats any help, and those listed I am able to buy without any problems, except the last one which is only available in one store I have no experience with.

    Thanks in advance

i dont know if this is true, but ive been told not to bother with laptop coolers as they are apparently a waste of money. Ive been running a dell latitude c600 for years in Australia without any problems without one.

While certainly not nessasary, I wouldnt call them useless. There's no way your 6 year old laptop is sporting a dedicated GPU which generates a majority of the heat in your laptop. Obviously the cooler your laptop the less it's internals will be exposed to expansion and contraction and other deteriorating effects of heat.

One of the main things the cooling pads do is lift it off the ground. The materials used for the heating pads tend to be conductive meaning heat will easily dissapate and will not build up excessively. The fans simply increase the air flow to move cool air into hot air zones to help cool the hot components.

Yea I am using a cooler. I dont think it does much. Maybe one or two degrees less. Well if you must get one. Get a nice one. Aluminum is decent for transfering heat. And the most important. The more fans, the better. The coolers with desktop grade fans tend to do a better job =)

I bought an Evercool NP-101 notebook cooler for my old laptop, a Dell Inspiron 4000. That Dell laptop generated a lot of heat whenever I run an anti-virus scan, and using the NP-101 helped considerably to cool the laptop down. I got rid of the Dell and now use the NP-101 on the W7J. Although the W7J doesn't generate as much heat as the Dell, I think it still helps to use the cooler.

D.A., if you do decide to get a notebook cooler, I'd recommend checking not just power consumption, but also fan speed and noise level. And the weight too if you're planning to carry it around with you.

    Akasa Aluminium Notebook Cooler
    Cooler Master NotePal
    Titan G3TZ Alu

So of those listed, which is the best one?

Both are the same. Just different color and 3 has the usb hub. I have the lapcool 3 for my A8jm. To be honest, I like having it under my notebook, but theres really no ground breaking cooling going on. Its just a nice thing to have ;)

I agree, I have the Lapcool 2 (I think.. is the one with 4 usb ports), and thou is a great thing to have (props the lappy half an inch with a slight incline.. really comfortable to use), there is really no earthshattering cooling going on.

I have measure it to approx 3 - 4 degrees. The thing that really helped to cool down my lappy, was a bios update. Old story with the M6BNe.. but MAN!!!..I have the cooolest laptop on coolville.. :D

    hi,

    i got coolermaster notepal r9; i didn't do any specific tests therefore i don't know exactly how much cooler my laptop runs sitting on notepal (i do not get excited by numbers and charts) but it definetely runs less hot - the difference is noticable; while two fans run really quiet even if you turn them off laptop still gets cooler thanks to aluminium that this cooling pad is made out of;

    greetings,

Hehe its the Lapcool 3 w/ the usb ports. I have that one too. Yea about 3 -4 degrees different, but once you do stuff, the temp rises again.

If you want something that seriously cools, get a bunch of desktop fans and hook them to a transformer ac adaptor. You will have one heck of a cooler. Noisy, but it actually "cools".

Am I the only person that thinks this looks cool?? Do you think this would do the job or would I just be paying for the christmas lights?

You are likely paying for christmas lights. You need to pay attention to where that thing moves air. Is it pushing air in or sucking it out, is it moving air where air neds to be moved? That is why I built my own.

Those fans look reversable so you can rest on that. Hope thats not the kind of plastic that has alot of static. Loud fans tend to give better cooling. Those christmas lights might start to get distracting and annoying.

DA - are you looking to cool when it is on a desk, or on your lap? I have a suggestion for the later, but based on what you're using now, I'm not sure that's what you're looking for.
