Hi,
It's time for me to get a new notebook and I'm wondering which Canadian reseller I should use. My last purchase was with milestone pc, but they don't seem to exist anymore.
Probably going to be getting an UL30JT or N82 when they are released so a recommendation of which store/online shop to use would be appreciate.

I believe http://www.canadacomputers.com is supposed to be a decent reseller
there are 3 of us here in Alberta
Memoryexpress http://www.memoryexpress.com
BCOM computers http://www.b-com.ca
and myself but I shall not put in a plug for myself as I just dont feel right doing so. -
I've heard good things about ncix.com, as well.
-
pccanada.com
-
I'm still waiting for my laptop, which was supposed to be shipped out today or yesterday... -
I have also noticed that pccanada is SLOW on processing warranty repairs on laptops.
-
I've had good luck with NCIX for the past 4 years or so.
-
NCIX and Newegg are both good apparently. Especially NCIX.
www.anitec.ca
www.a-power.com
www.ncix.com
www.newegg.ca
These are the sites I check daily waiting for the N82. Can't wait till I find one .. . . -
Pccanada was excellent for getting this specific laptop for me. Excellent customer service, fast shipping (24 hours) and great communication. I'm unsure why you think they're slow, but I guess anecdotes are just anecdotes.
They also have an excellent rating at resellerratings.com -
@oswald
Unfortunately no, but it's good to know that you've had a good experience. Perhaps they are overwhelmed with orders for now. -
Quite possible, any of us that are selling ASUS machines are pretty busy .. and I ONLY deal with business customers not general retail.
-
. The ASUS's service in Canada is simply terrible in my experience...
I personally experienced many orders with both NCIX and CanadaComputers. They both selling ASUS notebooks, have a good service and a fast shipping. Ncix also offers a pricematch option and will match any Canadian reseller. -
Thanks guys. I think I'll look into NCIX when the 2 models I mentioned are released and if the reviews are positive

Just to add, I used MileStonePC myself to get my first ASUS (and I bought my first laptop there in 2003 when they were known as CanadaSys). I got my G51Jx from Infonec - I got them to do a price match with GreyTechComputer which got me ~$150 off all told after cash discount.
I recommend no matter where you get it, do a Shopbot.ca search and see prices various places have, and also search around for local computer shops and see what you find. If you can get a price match it can really help save you money while still getting the laptop without all wait in shipping. Or you might find a cheaper reseller even with shipping - it definitely pays to search around

Asus = crap.

WOW thanks puter1 for your enlightening and helpful post.

BTW... are you a retailer buying from us? -
I bought my G51 from newegg.ca in august, delivery was quite fast and satisfactory, the warranty is actually generous, and my asus has worked flawlessly since then. I'm glad I decided to buy it, and it's still pretty top notch. My keyboard was having issues but all seems back to normal, so I guess it must have been a temporary software issue. Anyway, there you go, I was happy with newegg.
-
amazon.ca is a little more expensive, but they're decent. Newegg and NCIX are awesome. Good experiences with both (bought and returned a laptop from newegg, and bought and RMA'd a netbook with NCIX - awesome post-sale service from both).
-
My experience with Canadacomputers is ... great price, with ZERO after sale service. -
Looks like the only retailer in me area (Vancouver, BC) that has ASUS laptops out on DISPLAY is Anitec, and one or two other small ones.
Since Canada gets Asus shipments pretty late, anyone here familiar with any ASUS retailers in the Washington state area? -
-
They are, however they do not put their laptops (only the popular ones or on sale ones [eee pc, sony vaio]) on display. At least for the Burnaby branch one.
Plus ASUS items seems to come 1-2 months after US release so I can't wait -
Received my laptop from UPS today. Another thumbs up for PC Canada.

Another thumbs up for PC Canada.

Thank you KarlN and coldcase. Hope you are enjoying your notebooks!

Does anybody know if there are resellers in Canada that only charges the federal tax and does not charge provincial taxes when you order online? I live in Quebec and given the price of this laptop, I'd rather not have to pay an extra 7.5% of provincial tax above everything else.
-
I got my G73 through canada computers. They called me up and kept me posted on when the laptop would arrive and it actually showed up earlier than their estimates.

-NCIX (Only 5% GST tax and good service by experience, they also have a price match feature that is very easy to use and works almost everytime)
-NewEgg.ca (Only 5% tax too and have a good reputation)
-DirectCanada (I think this is an NCIX affiliate, very good price, express shipping is lightning fast but ground normally takes 1 week and a half, needed to remember them to ship my orders 2 times, service seems to be better now)
-TigerDirect.ca (overpriced most of time in my opinion and you pay both taxes)
-CanadaComputers (Bought my G51J-A1 from them and they have a very short in-store warranty and after contacting them for help with my case with Asus, they simply do not answer) This was my last order from them.
If you are leaving near Montreal I would recommend http://www.alco.ca/. They offered help to me about my current problems with Asus service even if I didn't buy my notebook from them. They are also dealing with Asus in case of problems for the complete warranty period. You will pay a bit more but after all the problems I am experiencing since over 93 days with Asus service, If I had known, I would have bought it from them without any hesitation. -
The pricematch feature is also nice since OnHop.ca advertises the A2 for $1599.54 but they charge both taxes and shipping.
