I have upgraded the SSD last year and didn't save the recovering partition, so the F9 does nothing for me, however, I do have the recovery files (no partition). Now I need to make a bootable flash drive and put the files on it. Any experts on this? :)

You need to boot on the OS installation from USB Stick / USB Optical Drive / USB Hard-Disk Drive.

Yes, but the Asus recovery files are in plain folder and are not bootable. I tried making a bootable Win7 USB flash drive and putting the files in it, but could not load the recovery process.

What type of image is in the folder? Is it a .WIM?

Yes, there are 3 .WIM files in the image folder. Any ideas?

There should be a script in there, and you can use WAIK to restore the WIM images manually using the info from the script.

That will require either a bootable USB win7 full installation, or removing the hard drive from the Eee and using another computer with WAIK on it to restore the image.

An alternative is to put together a bootable win7 or vista USB key, not using the USB download tool, but making a custom one with WINPE 3 via WAIK.

Yet another alternative is to break open the WIM image, use a linux liveCD to copy the extracted files onto the hard disk, and then use a win7 installer USB key to do a startup repair.
