I went to the asus support center in korea to fix this problem:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?p=5150573#post5150573

And the service was excellent. but apparently the global warranty only fixes hardware not software. the issue wasnt anything bad he said i had to do the following:

    1.Format the windows

2.Clean the registry- he said that this was a big one.

He recommended me to go on safe mode with networking and find a registry cleaner but he said i needed to update the windows BIOS? my Korean was off and i do not know where to find this update of bios.

According to his instructions i need to update to 214.

And how would i go about formatting the windows. i cannot use the computer in normal mode becuase it freezes. so i need to start from scratch. I do not have any of the cds that came with the notebook.

The notebook should come with a partition containing the original state of the notebook when you got it.

When you start up and it is POSTing, try one of the F# keys, maybe F8, and you should be able to enter a recovery thing.

What is the maximum hard drive space available to you through the OS? How big was your hard drive advertised?

From the Asus G51VX manual: ( its probably the same for the G50V )
    Code:
The Recovery Partition quickly restores your Notebook PC's software to its original working state... Blah blah Blah...

    [B]About the Recovery Partition[/B]

The Recovery Partition is a reserved space on your hard disk drive used to restore the operating system, drivers, and utilities installed on your Notebook PC at the factory.
    [B]
    Using the Recovery Partition:[/B]
    1. Press [F9] during bootup
    2. Press [Enter] to select Windows Setup [EMS Enabled].
    3. Read the ASUS Preload Wizard screen and click next.
    4. Select a partition option and click Next.
    5. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the recovery process.
    Hope this helps...
If you dont have the Recovery Partition, you will need to use the DVD Recovery method...
