I have completely reformatted so my computer with nothing it, clean slate. Should I go reformat it with my windows 7 home premium disk then upgrade to pro? Or just keep my clean install w/ pro. Is the only difference with the home premium the asus logo in the computer properties?

All the win7 versions install everything the only difference is what you get access to run ..

You get a notebook with oem slic 2.1 bios .. and any win7 oem install dvd ..
enter pro oem key = pro version ... enter ultimate oem key = ultimate versions.

All version of asus oem keys posted on internet, they same for all asus oem pc-s ...

Any time upgade of pro to ultimate .. ultimate oem key entered .. 5min .. ultimate version configured and fully permanently activated ... ...

There is 0 reason to run anything else then ultimate.

I know that they all are the same. But is their any reason i should have installed my Asus Oem Windows 7 home premium first then put my proffessional key in. Because my buddy has the same laptop and the only difference between ours is when he right clicks my computer it shows the asus logo. I'm asking does that even matter?

OEM keys to be correct, .. google
Oem mobo/notebook with correct bios that has slic 2.1 (2.0 vista only) + certificate file + any version of w7 (oem/retail/downloaded) = permanently activated.
This is what makes all windows activation pointless ...

There are differences in versions .. check on ms page.
Everything installed even in starter version all the ultimate part files .. just disabled.
Install whatever version oem w7 .. you can do anytime upgrade l8r offline it takes a few min only to convert versions.
What you see is different in w7 installations .. look the optional server parts too ;) .. not everything is set to be activated by default.
