I've been wondering, is it better to get the current G1S or wait for the upcoming G1Sn?? :( :(

Is it possible to tell me when the new model is coming out??

If you can wait, by all means do so, because if the Sn turns out to be crap then the G1S' price would have dropped anyway :) But if you need a notebook now, just get it.

CPU-wise you won't notice much, I think. If the GPUs are different on the other hand (and they probably are, I don't follow the G1 models), it might make quite a difference.

asus will be rolling out penryn loaded laptops at end of the quarter. There are always new things that come out every 3-6 months. Will you be the next perpetual waiter? You and the rest of this forum are :)

I've heard the 9xxx series hasn't been released yet, so probably no numbers. But experienced 3D users here will be able to offer some projections, that's for sure. :)

QFT, if your waiting for the next new thing that will increase performance, you may be waiting a long time before you purchase.

The question isnt so much power, but if this new model will offer you some unique feature that the current model does not. Becuase lets face it, there will almost always be a performance or power upgrade with each new model, but only with things such as DX10, etc, do you find that you have features that stand out between models.

If you can wait, wait as long as possible, prices go down and technology inproves. If you need a machine sooner then later, I dont think any ground breaking technology is being released any time soon, none I have read about that is of interest to me (emphesis on me.)

If your waiting for just a little more power, you'll be waiting until the end of time. If your waiting for a unique or new feature (such as when DX10 first came out) then wait.

Does the new G1S that is comming out offer anything more then a little more power? Can you wait for it to come out before purchasing? If you can answer yes to those then sure wait.

Does the 9500m offer you features that the current GPU would not that would justify a wait?

To my knowledge, the 9th geforce series for laptops shouldnt be out any time SOON. i mean think about it. the 8800GTX has just been released for laptops and sales are good so why would nVidia throw something new at you while old is still going strong? Perhaps the lower mid-range graphics cards will be out but i dont think u want that...
Features like DirectX10 wont be out for a while. There will be no huge technological innovations out for a bit. Waiting for the next technological boom may not be worth your while... Unless your willing to wait more than a year.

The only reason i'd consider waiting to purchase a G1 was if they managed to fit a 8800 into it. I personally would not wait for the next gen mid range card.

so the best thing for me now is to just get the laptop..and not wait because the newer model wont make that much of a difference..

    pretty much :)
except you are gonna save money if you buy the G1S now and not the newer one when it comes out.

basically, if you're waiting ur gonna wait forever. there's always something new coming out and you'll always be waiting. He also said if you're waiting, wait for something groundbreaking. Eg. back in the day, if you were gonna by a pentium M and the new duo core was coming out in a month, then you should wait cause that's ground breaking. If it's just a new GPU or a 2.2 GHZ CPU to 2.4 GHZ CPU, then its pointless to wait. Word of thumb. If you need it now, buy now, If you can wait, wait till you have to buy.

Specs look like the same for both of them so my guess is they're the same. Could be other differences , won't know for sure until benchmarks and when the card actually comes out. Right now, they're just assumptions.

GT is almost always better than GS.
