Hello.
I have had a Asus A6Ja for about 9 months now and i'm very happy with my purchase still (upgraded the memory to 2gb and harddrive to a seagate 160gb 5400rpm drive though).
After my harddrive upgrade i decided to re-install everything using a plain Windows XP SP2 installation disc instead of using the Recovery DVD which installs lots of old drivers and software which i would have needed to uninstall/upgrade/clean up anyway.
Everything is setup and working fine except one thing:
Using the Quiet Office setting in Power4Gear+ (which i always used before, except when i was using the battery which i rarely do) the CPU does not cycle up or down in speed any more. It's static at 999MHz no matter what i do - even if i have 100% CPU usage (using both core's). Before my reinstallation it would auto-cycle up to 1.67GHz when it needed it and then cycle down in MHz again when it didn't need the CPU power to lower heat and thus fan noise.
I have installed all the Hotfixes downloadable on Asus website and installed all their latest software for this computer (except the Intel PROset software, i decided to use WinXP SP2's own WiFi software instead which works just as good).
Any idea what the problem could be? Would be nice to fix this problem as i need to keep the Power4Gear+ setting at "Maximum Power" now, which keeps the CPU at 1.67GHz constantly which again makes the computer make alot more noise and get hotter than before even when it is mostly idle![]()

try chanign your power profile to laptop and see if that helps play around with profiles and put a load on your pc and let it idle see what each one is doing.

Well i like the Power4Gear+ application, so that i can use the Power4Gear+ key on my A6Ja to switch profiles without having to digg into any programs to do so (NHC for example). And for that to work i have to use the "Power4Gear+" profile setting in the power managment settings.
I guess my problem might be that Power4Gear+ does not do dynamic switching of the CPU frequency any longer. Weird though, why it should not do it automaticly any more (there is no options in P4G+ to turn it on/off either). Dynamic CPU speeds works with NHC but i don't like NHC as it eats more CPU cycles by being in the background than my MP3 player does (foobar2000 with PPHS resampler, Advanced Limiter and Equalizer turned on).
It's probably just a software issue but i have no idea where to look
Is there any specific patch or CPU driver or something i need to get the system to support dynamic CPU speeds outside specific programs?
Reinstalled a A6Ja, need help with a problem
