I think the best buy is th N56VM, not because I have one but because, in Portugal, the VM-xxxxX model (with BT) costs 100eur less than the VZ model. With those 100eur, one can get a pretty nice price on SSDs and RAM.
IMHO, if you looking for games, you could be looking elsewhere but for getting stuff done, the N56 is a great notebook! ;)

I don't think so, if you have 1000 euros to spend and you like to play games like COD and assasin's creed (like me for example lol) GT650M is far better than GT630M and "only" costs 100 euros more ;). BT it's not important for me. But if you don't want to play any games you can find laptops for 800/700 euros with more battery, thinner and lighter that do the same as Asus N56VM for people who don't really want to play any game.

hmm ya i went to a store to see the laptops in real life... and i got kinda disappointed with the asus. Lke the other guy said before its kinda bulky, of course it has advantages like the full hd screen and better cooling. I read it too about the samsung that some people have cooling problems, but just few people said it and was about the 17 inches with the 650m DDR5 right? Tell me when you see the samsung in front of your eyes it looks awsome!

Other thing is, does anyone know the difference in the performance between the 640m DDR5 and 650 DDR3 ?

Am I crazy, or has this notebook still not been released in Canada? I want to get it, but I can't find it on any Canadian sites, and I don't want to pay a whole bunch of cash to get it across the border.

Anybody have any idea when this is going to be out in Europe or the UK to be more precise?

I haven't seen any solid release date sadly.

Currys/PCWorld have the N56VM (with 630m graphics) available to order. I haven't seen any sign of the N56VZ (with 650m) in the UK yet, although in theory you can pre-order these from Amazon in Germany (amazon.de), and they appear to be cheaper than the N56VM in the UK.

Want to know this too, had my eye on it since april. Nearly went for the N55 until I saw a YouTube clip of this laptop... Didn't expect to be waiting this long though! Currys/PCWorld do have the N56VM but this has the weaker GFX and a poor screen so not willing to fork out £1k for it. I'm starting to look elsewhere, if Asus drag their heels much longer they may well lose themselves a customer!!

months i have been waiting.. i phoned a guy up at Asus Laptop - UK Best Deal Sale Laptops Buy Notebook Computer Discount UK - Buy On-Line Laptops and Accessories for Business and Home and he reckons the vz is just not going to market in the uk.
im resorting to ordering from abroad to get it, germany has them but there's the keyboard issue, and usa has them but i then have to worry about hidden customs costs/import tax/defunct warranties. i am also wanting to buy it through my work so i can get the vat back on it because its going to be a work machine.

has anyone got any suggestions/info they can give me when importing laptops from usa to uk?
any uk patrons with a vz in front of them?
    thanks

I'm in the same position, have been waiting for the N56VZ since June and am losing my patience!
I'd take what the guy at Asus Laptop says with a pinch of salt, as I emailed various retailers before the other VM models where released and they all said "we don't know/ we don't have a release date".

As to importing from the USA, from my research it seems very costly: + US sales tax + Shipping & Insurance + VAT @ 20% + Royal Mail handling fee
...Oh, and might want a new power adapter and keyboard.
RE: through work, I have no idea.

I'm going to give them another week (fed up of waiting!) then buy one of these:
    -Clevo W150HRM (AKA Optimus III)
    -Samsung 550 P5C

Good luck, let us know how you get on!

    huzzah!
i seem to have found someone selling the asus N76Vz-V2G-T1011V in the uk, i just wonder if anyone knows the difference between this product number and the DS71?
its 1tb of hdd space and 8gb ram, i know this much, from looking around the codes don't seem to determine aspects like keyboard language, only unimportant things to me like hdd capacity and the os it ships with.
do all the models come with the same speed ram?

Got a link to the seller please?
Couldn't find a UK seller, lots of Germans tho
I don't understand why they're dragging their heels with the 'Z' models!

Many of the N56VM and N56VZ have hit ebay the previous week here in the u.s. When can we expect the N46... When can we expect the N46?

I'm about to buy the N76VZ from Amazon.de but I was also worried about the potential keyboard issue, but upon further research the site clearly states:

"Information for Keyboard Layout: When and sold by Amazon.de you receive the ordered product in the QWERTY keyboard layout."

So I don't think we have anything to worry about... The high resolution photos below in the description clearly show a UK keyboard as well!

So frustrating having to buy a laptop from Germany anyway... Why can't they just release it over here!

    @ andy_s2k :
    the seller is here: https://www.systo.co.uk/uncategoris...-8gb-1tb-gt650m-w7hp-90najc552n1374vl151.html

but i ordered it, and the next day i get an email saying the keyboard IS german, and that i couldn't cancel the order... i then phoned them and they backed down and refunded, time wasters.
so i am still without this laptop.

    @ melonpan :
please let us know how you get on, i think i have found the same amazon page you mention, and am reading it through google translate.
hope you get a uk/usa keyboard.

    [edit]
this review says it comes with a german keyboard:
    Amazon.de: Joerg Lenz's Rezension von Asus N76VZ-V2G-T1011V 43,9 cm (17,3 Zoll) ...

Hmm this is interesting. I'm going to directly contact Amazon.de to see if they can solve the issue.

Looking on the European notebookcheck websites, the polish ones show QWERTY on this review ( Notebookcheck.pl: Recenzja Asus N76VZ)
and QWERTY then QWERTZ next to each other on this: ( Notebookcheck.pl: Recenzja Asus N76VM)

Then the German one says QWERTZ.... ( Test-Update Asus N76VZ-V2G-T1011V Notebook mit GT 650M - Notebookcheck.com Tests)

So who knows. I'm at a loss. The Amazon.de review you linked is a bit disheartening as well...

And even if Amazon.de are selling QWERTY keyboards they might have German symbols elsewhere?

Oh dear my mistake, upon translating the Amazon web page it does in fact translate QWERTZ to QWERTY. How ridiculous.

Nevermind. I guess getting this laptop with an English keyboard is just a pipe dream....

Then again I guess even if it did have a German keyboard you can always change it to an English set-up in the software options....

Such a shame ASUS haven't released this laptop in the UK, I feel like I'm back to square one!
