    What is this? Is it for WiFi/Bluetooth or a receiver for an infrared remote?

    Is it possible to use a remote for simple functions like start/stop, next/previous track and volume control when using the G50Vt as a HTPC?

    Check page 23 of the manual, it reads "Infrared Port (IrDA) (on selected models)". If you go to the Asus Drivers download page you can find the "ITE remote controller application" under other. Chances are you have this port.

    I checked it out and the infrared receiver is present on my laptop.

    Where do I get a remote that works with it?

    Could you explain how exactly do you get a Wiimote to work with the G50Vt?

    Its complicated, I have other post on the forum with the directions though for the EEE and the C90S its the same for all computers.

    I currently own the W90 and it works on that laptop as well.

    For now I make you suffer by having to listen to me try to record a video from way back in the day:

    <object width='425' height='344'>

    <embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Fllo6F-UP5o&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width='425' height='344'></object>

    I get stage fright when recording myself, plus I was at work so I couldnt really take my time and relax/focus.

    I have to try this again with a real camcorder instead of my digital camera and with the W90.

    I have some neat new tricks since then too.

    Edit: lol I recorded that when I owned the G50V, so the G50 makes a guest appearance :D
