There's a strange metal "clink" that comes from the left side of my keyboard, and it absolutely annoys me. I've been searching all the threads, but I can't find any about how to remove the UL30's keyboard. I'm hoping to mod the flex a little bit and find out why there's this strange noise!

Usually there would be markings at the bottom of the notebook, but I'm not seeing any of those either. Would it happen to do with those two small flathead points on the top of the keyboard? I don't want to pry them and break it.

Is this a "chicklet" style keyboard? If yes then I'm not sure.

Otherwise, usually you need to remove the "K >" screws on the underbelly of the notebook (if there are any) and then pop in tabs along the top of the keyboard plate, and possible on the sides (again, if any). Then the keyboard should lift towards you.

On a top of your chiclet keyboard you have 4 small gaps. In there you have 4 locks/latches. (U can see them - just light it up with a flashlight or sth). Just insert a flat screwdriver in there, pressing one lock at a time, meanwhile use a second screwdriver to pull top side of the keyboard off its default position.

Thanks for the advice. I can't seem to "pop" any of the middle latches though without it seeming really difficult. Perhaps I'm a bit chicken (it's plastic after all).

The keyboard seems to be clicking even off the metal base though, so I think it's just the bad quality of the chicklet keys on that side (they seem a little loose).

Hey. I know this is an old thread, but I'm having the same problem. Did you ever fix your rattle on the left side of the keyboard?
