I know this may be an odd question. I removed all those ATI, Centrino, XP, etc. stickers from my notebook, but there's still some of the adhesive left on the right wrist area. The last thing I wanna do to my beautiful new Asus is scratch it. Any suggestions about what could safely remove this gooey gunk?

    Tanx!!

Some WD40 and a straight edge (i.e ruler) would work quite nicely :)

^ Dude - that would scare the sh@ out of me....

I'd be way too scared to use it on the V6Va palmrest. You're probably right on with the alcohol, I'd just be too skittish - I try to do it with my finger...maybe a slightly damp cloth...

    I know...I'm paranoid.

Are you sure the ruler won't scratch the notebook? That seems awfully risky.

EDIT: TheUT beat me to it! :p

Just send me the notebook, I'll get the stickers off, free of charge, I'll send the notebook right back to you in 2 or 3 years or if I get my new one from buy.com

You guys are WAY too paranoid... WD40 is widely used to remove sticky residues :)
And no, the ruler shouldn't scratch the notebook... I'm not telling you to use the corner, I said use the EDGE! it's straight and it's flat... it should work fine.

There's stuff called goo-be-gone or some such name. You can pick it up at any hardware store. You'll find 100 other uses for it around the house after you're done getting rid of your computer stickiness.

I usually just take the sticker I just removed, stick it back onto the residue, and remove it again. Do that a few times and almost always the residue comes off eventually with the sticker. This stuff shouldn't be too tough, it was designed to be removed easily.

Just use some Isopropalene(spelling on that?), alcohol of a high percentage, like 99%.

I use that stuff to clean off cpus and other motherboard components, so use some of that.

WD40 would work great as well, but it's greasy.

Use some cotton Q-Tips or swabs, same thing, and in a circular motion wipe it off.

    Cheers,
    Mike

Just use some lighter fluid. Easy to obtain, stinks a bit, but don't damage your notebook a bit. Just rub a bit on, to "dissolve" the stickyness, and use some tissue to wipe it off.

use goo gone, it is a liquid thatu can apply with fingers and just rub a little and the sticky stuff will just slide off. it is safe on many surfaces, i use it on my car to get the sticky stuff they missed taking off on a new car
