Hi guys,
I was wondering if removing the stickers on my notebook (i.e. ASUS, nVidia, Intel, Bluetooth etc.) will void my 2 year international warranty. I've asked E.B.E. abt it and I thought i'll post it here for more opinions.
Cheers,
milt

My reply:
What I suggest is you remove everything except the Windows and Intel stickers (those have a very strong adhesive and can leave traces).
There's no real danger to warranty but stick them back on an A4 paper or something and store them somewhere, just in case. -
No it won't void the warranty.
-
even the ASUS sticker which has some sort of barcode and says "Warranty: 24 months"?
-
There is one separate sticker which says you would void the warranty if you remove it.. Usually its at the back of the laptop where the HDD and RAM bay is. The manufactures usually put it there since these are primarily the bays through which you can access the components.
Removing stickers on top, kinda intel or windows VISTA or config. stickers wouldnt affect the warranty.
There is also one sticker which carries the product serial number, this is also important since in case you laptop completely breaks down (i.e u cant even boot into windows to check the product serial number) you can use the serial number from here to track the warranty.
Do you plan any upgrades?? -
no i dont plan on any upgrades...im not removing any stickers on the back of the notebook so it's all gd...the sticker which u r referring to, which carries the serial number, is that on the back too? cos the ASUS stickers that are ON my notebook only show CPU, Display, ODD, Wireless, HD, Memory, OS, Graphic and the Barcode (which Im not sure if it's important) and some advertising stuff like spill- proof keyboard and gigabit ethernet...
-
yea the sticker which carries the serial number is usually at the back only. Its somethin like 18 or 20 digit serial number which would be used for future reference. Which model of Asus do you have?
-
i have a V1S...not very common but fantastic for my needs
bump...any more opinions abt the sticker issue guys?? i cant wait to peel my stickers off...they look soooo...unprofessional -
You can remove everything that is on the top
-
Just remember, the nVidia sticker gives a 5% increase to your GPU power, and your Intel sticker helps multitasking by 4%. So...
-
hah Lithus, what abt the Windows Vista sticker?
-
That one leads to a slowdown of 10% and thereby cancels the advantage of the other two stickers.
-
5 + 4 = 9 != 10
-
lol gg lets order a few more of nvidia and Intel stickers XD

"Hi, removing the labels on top of your laptop will not avoid the warranty, but please don't remove those labels where there are some screws underneath.
Have a nice day.

90% isoprophyl alcohol + q tips and a fingernail = done
I left the nVidia sticker on, as it isn't a plastic-covered paper... it seems more of a plastic-covered metal foil.
I'd leave all the non-palmrest stickers on, just in case, although warranty should be tied to serial number. -
yep that's what i did! removed all the stickers on the palmrest...now my notebook just look 10 times more professional...

I like my C90 because it had I think one sticker to remove. I didn't bother putting on the "powered by asus" sticker. I liked the stealth look 90% of the laptop provided and loved the "I will eat your computer's face!" look the turbo engine gives.
Oh but I did add one sticker...it kinda covers up my whole top cover but also acts as a protective layer and looks like a work of art. It also adds +5 armor and -2% to cpu temps. The powered by asus sticker is merely a trinket anyways that allows the user to brag to dell and hp owners that their company actually makes their own computers. A bit of a worthless waste of a trinket space. I'd add a NOS sticker in its place for the speed boosts -
If I upgrade the RAM or hard drive - will this void the warranty?

ClearSkies Well no, I'm still here..
The only thing that voids warranty is if you break the sticker seals on the cpu/gpu heatsinks. -
I have got one extra "Warranty void if removed" sticker that is identical to the one on the CPU/GPU heatsink. I will paste it onto one of the screws if I decide to send my laptop to warranty -
ClearSkies Well no, I'm still here..
And that would be cheating.....

So i sent in my acer laptop for repair and rung today.acer fixing it and said they awaited customer apporval for a new mother board even though it was under warrinty.I sent the laptop back in march of this year asweel and at that time i extended my warrinty too.The problem was the same then so i questioned today why they needed a customer approval. After some effort, someone told me the reason was because my warrinty was voided as the sticker and some screw had been removed on the bottom of the laptop. Now i know catergorically I have been the only one in possession of my acer laptop since i extended my warrinty and it was returned to me in march. They are now saying my warrinty is voided but surely based on the fact that i extended in only a few months ago, and that I know for a fact I didn't take the sticker off. Also why would i intentionally or unintentially do that as I only exteneded the warrinty a few months ago? There must be some way of keeping the warrinty based on this specific case. They are just saying no no the warrinty is void but I find it hard to believe this is the only option...What can I do ...please helppppp thanks

I like keeping the stickers on and letting people know what I have (not that I'll let anyone else really use my notebook but you know..). Like most if I ever end up taking any of them off I'd want to keep the NVIDIA and Intel stickers on. Wouldn't make sense to keep the Vista one if I were to change OS.
-
I took all of my stickers off before I even booted up my laptop for the first time.....
Anyways, I think they may become harder to take off if you leave them on for a couple of months or a year so I might as well get them off before they become unsightly after some wear and tear. -
-
Whatever you do, don't remove the OEM Operating System Sticker.
Why would you want to remove a Vista sticker or a C2D sticker anyway? More stickers make the average person think that your laptop is better than it really is.
I only wish my laptop had the ATI sticker on it. -

A sticker of Windows 7 adds ten years to your life.

Your as in you.
I was also going to say that an Intel sticker would add five inches to your penis, but since I'm Asian that would have backfired on an epic scale.
EDIT: Censor's stealing my heat -

So glad someone has bought this up. My youngest lad decided to pull off the serial number label on my Toshiba. Then about 2 days ago I decided to drop it (not on purpose) so need to send it off to be repaired. Just glad it wont make a difference! Phew!
