I have a Asus V2S notebook where the cooling fan has become quite loud.

There is a hatch on the button that gives partial access to it, and I've blown out all dust but it remains loud.

I would like to replace the fan. I have found the replacement part, but the job would be easier if there were a disassembly guide for this model (or a similar model that has same general build traits.) I've done this sort of repair before, and I muddle thru it, but its a whole lot easier if the steps to get access to the fan are listed. (Thinkpads always seem to have a repair manual available, and its so useful to someone like me.) I can't seem to find something like this for the V2S. I do see some videos on youtube and such for the A series line - but not sure how similar they are.

    Thanks

    Hi Ken,

Do you have a similar manual for the F8Va series? Not that I need urgently but I would like to keep it among my documents.

    Thanks,

Ken Lee you are awesome !!

I contacted Asus support and they said it didn't exist !

(btw, the link you posted is broken, but its easy enough to paste the full URL in and its there fine.)

And the frosting on the cake, is that per the manual it looks quite simple to get to.

Asus eStore does not sell the fan, but they were able to give me the part number and pchub.com has it for a pretty reasonable $25 plus $6 shipping. I've ordered the part and look forward to having a quiet V2S again in a week or so.

    Thank you Ken !

Unfortunately U36JC is too new, Asus won't allow.

    Remind me 3 months after.

Are you sure the problem is the cooling fan? I had the same problem last year where the fan became really loud. I just undervolted and bought a cooling fan. Temps have been in the 60s and the fan has been pretty quiet. How does replacing a fan make it quieter?
