Hey all, just wondering if/where I could get a replacement keyboard for my laptop. I broke the enter and \ key off after spilling coffee all over the keyboard and wondered if anyone could reccomend brands/stores to get a new keyboard from, and if I could get an illuminated keyboard. I would love one of those! I live in Connecticut, so if anyone could provide help, I would be very happy.

If you have the keys which came off, you can put them back on. Usually its just a double sided clip which holds the keys on.
If you do not have the keys, you will have to buy another keyboard, or search aimlessly for just an enter key or just a \ key.
You can buy a new keyboard here:

Its probably cheaper if you search on ebay.
If ASUS ever sold the G1S with a backlit keyboard than you can upgrade your keyboard. If they did not, then chances are you cannot get a backlit keyboard which will fit and interface with your laptop.

Thanks for the link K-Tron, I did break the keys totally off, brackets and all, and ASUS never made the backlit keyboard, so that kinda sucks. How hard is it to remove/install keyboards from the laptop?

its probably pretty easy to replace.
I do not have a lot of expeience with ASUS laptops, but I can give examples of ways they are connected:
On many clevo's the keyboard is held down by small spring latches in the upper corners of the keyboard
on dell and hp laptops, you need to remove the plastic bezel between the keyboard an the lcd, and than that will expose the screws holding the keyboard down.
On lenovo/Ibm laptops, you can remove the laptop by flipping the laptop over and targeting the "K" labeled screws, so that you can remove the keyboard from underneath.
I dont know how your keyboard is mounted, but it is probably one of these ways.

Remember to keep your old keyboard, cause you never know if you will need another replacement key

Thanks K-TRON, there are two "K" screws (Ironic with your name huh?) on the bottom of the laptop. When I take it apart, I will take pictures for future reference. Thanks again.

I've replaced the keyboard on my M6Ne 3 times now. It's pretty easy, and it's only something like $20-30 to get a new keyboard direct from Asus.
