    Hi guys!

I need your help in finding a replacement mobo (second hand) for a friends Asus F3F laptop fairly cheaply. I've searched high and low and can't find any place (inc ebay) which sells them.

I've tried powering on the exisiting mb and all I get is the power and hard drive led for a couple of seconds then it dies. I tried swapping over battery/cpu/ram/hard drive from my working Asus F3J to no avail, hence why i've arrived at the conculsion of a faulty motherboard.

    Any help would be great!

    1. Repair from warranty if it's still under warranty.
    Otherwise:
    2. If you're in the US, look for the mainboard on ASUS estore. Check the price, get the part number.
    3. Google for the part number and see if you find it cheaper.
    4. Order from wherever it's more convenient, and install it.

You will need a disassembly manual to replace the motherboard.

yes thats what i've found also. I wonder if the F3j mb would fit in an F3F they are identical apart from different cpu's and intergrated graphics on the F3F. I have both machines. Can someone save me the hassle of pulling my F3J apart to find out?

You're not going to be able to use it with the F3F casing because of different cooling pipe design, fan layout, etc. even if you get the CPU and GPU for the F3J...

bugger! Oh well looks like I will send it away to laptoptec in sydney, these guys do component changes on mb's instead of just replacing them (cheaper)

But probably less reliable (depending on workmanship). But since there's no other solution for you... good luck :)
