Hi, I purchased my Asus V1V in the UK, and I am currently in Central America.

I need to replace the motherboard, but have not found anywhere that this may be possible. Looking on the asus estore, they have some V models, but not the V1V. Even if some of the other V models have the same motherboard, the motherboards are not available for sale for those models.

Any suggestions would be welcome here, as I would like to get it up and running again ASAP.

As a side note, Both serial numbers on my laptop (battery and bottom of the notebook) wore off, and I have no proof of purchase for my laptop. I did not register it as soon as I bought it (about six months ago), so is there any way I can still register for warranty? Is perhaps the fact that the laptop is a very new model of some significant? i.e. it would have to be in the warranty time scope....

Thankyou for any advice or suggestions.

Unfortunately, the Asus V1V is actually a 2 year old model which Asus does not manufacture anymore. If you have purchased the laptop brand new 6 months ago, your laptop should still be in warranty, but given that the serial number is no longer readable and you've never registered it, you would more than likely end up having to pay for the repair yourself. Without the serial number, you will not be able to register your laptop and Asus has no way of checking your warranty status.

AFAIK, Asus does not seem to operate any repair facilities in Central America (at least they didn't list any offices in that region on their website). I'd suggest taking your laptop to a local repair store and have them do the repairs there if possible.

Hi, I think you must be mistaken in that the V1V model is 2 years old.

They only ceased manufacturing and selling the laptop in the UK in July or so.

At least the CPU was a model released only a few months before I purchased the laptop.

Anyway, I am more than capable of fitting a new motherboard myself, I just need to know where to locate it from.

I am happy to buy it in the US and have a friend ship it down to me, but I can not even find where to buy it in the US.....
