In all my stubbornness in trying to religiously clean my laptops innards, I wound up stripping one of my screws that holds in the graphics card plate on my G1. Long story short, I need a new screw for one of the holes for that plate. Is this possible to obtain? The plate is held in place firmly by the other screw and the little hooks that "grip" the edges. But I would like to have everything fixed up. How would I go by getting a new one? Would Radioshack have a screw that small? Anyone have any ideas or how I could get this issue resolved?

Contact on of the resellers and ask nicely, I'm sure they are able to get you either the size of the screw so you can go obtain it, or can help you out with the screw. From my experience, you need to find a specialty computer/electronics store to get those size screws, radio shack doesn't have them.

A specialty computer store, like Micro Center? That is the local store for nothing but computers and stuff...I rarely go there because their prices are normally too high, but I might have a look.

I was thinking either a computer repair center, or online.

Keep in mind that if you overtightened or did something else with your screw and stripped the guiding threads in the plate (as opposed to ripped the threads off the screw itself), a new screw may * not* help you since it will have nothing to grip as you tighten it.

If the latter, try to be careful with the remaining contact point and keep it firmly attached.

If you stripped the screw though, there is a chance that debris in the hole might prevent a new screw from working so well.

The guiding threads I assume are alright. I took a look at them after I got the whole thing out. So as far as I know the guiding thread is OK. I'll see what I can find online or maybe at one of the local PC "docotor" locations in my area.
