After about 16 months when my original M6VA battery finally wore out to 86% wear, I got a replacement one online. Although it was only 4400 mAh unlike the 4800 of the original, I couldn't find any 4800 mAh online so I settled for 4400 which I had shipped from an eBay reseller in China.
However, from the first day I have had problems. The battery never charges up fully. Everest 2007 Ultimate reports the battery had 0% wear, for the first few days. Over a two week period, it wear levels went from 0% to 4% to 9% and now has been at 6% for a while.
I have managed to charge the battery up to 100% only when the computer is switched off. I rarely shut down the computer, so this is not a solution. When the computer is switched on, the battery used to stop charging at around 85-95%. Over the next few weeks, this dwindled and now the battery stops charging at 65%. It simply refuses to charge any more no matter what I do.
I have also noticed that while the computer is plugged in and the battery is "fully charged" (regardless of what percentage), the battery somehow still gets drained very slowly, in spite of being plugged in and still not charging.
I have also tried recalibrating the battery, but it made no difference.
The old battery, although now at 86% wear, charges fully without a problem and does not lose charge while plugged in. It does however, drain fully after less than 30 minutes of usage, so Im not sure if this old battery is a reliable test subject.
I'm wondering if this is a fault with the new battery or with the charger, or the laptop itself.
Any help will be much appreciated.
Thanks
